SAT – The deadline to register late for the December 6 th SAT is November 18 th. Visit collegeboard.com to register.

ACT – The deadline to register late for the December 13 th ACT is November 20 th. Visit www.actstudent.org to register.

Letters of Recommendation - If you are applying to a private or out of state university that requires a letter of recommendation from a counselor or teacher, the deadline to request a letter is December 1 st. UC and CSU campuses don’t require a letter of recommendation. Please see your counselor immediately for details.

Attention seniors!

UC/CSU Application Deadline – The deadline to register for Fall 2009 admissions to a UC or a CSU is Sunday, November 30 th. To apply for a UC campus, go to https://admissions.ucop.edu/pathwaysF2008/Pathways. To apply for a CSU campus, go to www.csumentor.edu.

CSS/Profile - Many seniors applying to private universities are asked to complete the CSS/PROFILE as a part of their application process. Colleges, universities, graduate and professional schools and scholarship programs use the information collected on the PROFILE to help them award private grant and scholarship funds. The information collected on the PROFILE helps colleges and programs award their funds fairly. If you are a student who is applying to a private institution and you’d like to read more about the CSS/PROFILE, visit www.collegeboard.com. End of grading period – November 7 th marked the end of the 12 week grading period. Students will receive progress reports on Tuesday, November 18 th. To access grade information for your student, log onto www.learningpoint.org

Take the A.S.V.A.B.! (Armed Services Aptitude Battery) - The ASVAB Career Exploration Program includes eight individual tests covering verbal and math skills, mechanical knowledge, electronics, etc. It also provides three Career Exploration Scores for Verbal Skills, Math Skills, and Science and Technical Skills. These three scores serve as one of several pieces of information about your teen that can aid in the exploration of a wide variety of educational and career options. The ASVAB is offered at no cost and no obligation to junior and senior high school students. The ASVAB will be administered at PHS on December 8th at 7:30 a.m. Sign up to take the ASVAB in the Titan Center (K-16).

Class Rank on Transcript - In support of your son/daughter’s college and scholarship needs, you may request class ranking to be indicated on transcripts and letters of recommendation. Please follow this brief process:

• Email our school registrar, Linda Warren, at lwarren@powayusd.com asking that your student’s class rank be added to their transcript.  Please remember that class ranking changes every semester.  You will need to request the rank be updated every semester.
