BACKGROUND: Valley Elementary School is located in the "heart" of Poway adjacent to the city hall, recreation center, and senior center.  Costco Wholesale has been a member of the community since 1991.

DESCRIPTION: The Costco Wholesale partnership assists students at Valley to achieve their goals, improve academics and increase awareness of Costco as a business.

ESTABLISHED: March 2000

GOALS:

bullet Increase school, home and community bonds.
bullet Promote interaction between school and business.
bullet

Support education through mentoring programs.

ACTIVITIES:

Support needy families during holidays.
bullet

Provide financial support for extracurricular activities.
bullet

Participate in the "Principal for a Day" program.
bullet

Provide guest speakers for "Mystery Guest" program.
bullet

Participate in academic mentoring.
bullet

Provide backpack to students filled with supplies.
bullet

Sponsor 5th grade end-of-the-year activities.
bullet

Support "student of the month" recognition.
bullet

Display student artwork at Costco Wholesale.
bullet

Sponsor tours of the warehouse.
