His educational training and background, in addition to his experience, will add depth to our Learning Support Services team at the secondary level.

“I’m very much looking forward to the opportunity to work more closely with teachers and district leaders in my new position as Director of Secondary Education. Teachers in our district give so much of themselves for the success of their students, and it is my hope to support their efforts in any way possible,” said Dr. Carrillo. “As much as I’m looking forward to my new position, it’s very difficult to leave the staff at Black Mountain Middle School. I have enjoyed the positive learning environment we have built for students, staff, and parents. I have truly been blessed by each member of the staff and will miss them tremendously.”

Dr. Carrillo began his career in education as a science teacher at Bonita Vista High School where he taught International Baccalaureate biology and chemistry and was a teacher on special assignment for curriculum and instruction.
